Autumn Grove Manor is a co-op game for 2-6 players. A team of 6 strangers are thrust together to collect 6 gems, in the hopes of destroying the Demon King’s anchor, tethering him to our world. You’ll have to exorcise the ghosts and search the manor for items and the gems. Beware though, he may cast his anchor into our realm at the end of any round to challenge you.
Explore the Manor
The room tiles are laid out randomly every time you setup the game, so you’ll have to explore the house anew every time to discover the gems and items in the chests.
Every time ghosts attack you, more are removed from the game bag, and as more ghosts appear on the board, the more confident the Demon becomes. Keep removing ghosts from the board or, you’ll be fighting the Demon before you’re prepared.
Search for Items
Search chests for items to help on your journey to destroy the anchor. Will you find shovels to fill in holes made by the ghosts? Keys to the secret doors that allow travel across the house in an instant? Med kits for healing the team? Or the precious gems that will help defeat the Demon? All items are one use though, so don’t waste them.
Destroy the Anchor
The Demon king is descending upon the manor to take the souls of those who have opposed him. Once the demon is pulled from the bag, the board is flipped and the endgame begins. Each gem slows down the time taken for the demon to arrive so you have a better chance to destroy the anchor first. Collect three books from across the house and you can summon him to the board if you feel ready to fight.
Each character has a special ability to help in saving the manor. Don’t forget, that a players abilities may turn the game in your favour at a crucial moment.
By searching in chests you can find items to help you on your way. Medkits heal you up, potions can damage the anchor. All items are single use however, so once its used it’s gone.
How to play
Part 1 – The House Board:
Find items and gems to help with your final battle.
How it works:
You can take up to 8 actions per turn. The actions can be any combination, in any order, of the following actions:
- Perform an Exorcism
- Give or use an Item
- Open a Chest
- Rescue an Ally
End of Turn:
At the end of your turn if you opened a door, opened a chest or fell into a hole, flip the top card of the ghost deck to find out how the ghosts will react to your presence this turn. The ghost cards can add new ghosts to the board, add holes to the board or ghosts move towards players.
Once the demon is pulled from the bag then you flip the board to start the Boss fight.
Part 2 – The Portal Room Board:
Destroy the anchor before the demon arrives.
Effects from Part 1:
All the items you’ve collected in part 1 are carried over and can be played any round before the Heroes act.
How it works:
Part 2 is split into 3 sections:
- Heroes move
Each character may choose to move up to their characters movement speed.
Items fall from the demon realm into our realm, some will hinder you, some will aid you, you won’t know till you search the item pile.
- Heroes act
The heroes may then perform a search action on the items pile, open a demon chest if you found one in the pile or destroy the anchor.
Beware though, you only have till you run out of the items falling into the realm, once they’ve all dropped through, the demon king will follow. The more gems you collected the more items will drop.
